It was the night of our annual Thanksgiving meal, and I (Joseph) had been attending Park Hill for a few months when I decided that it was time to get connected. As a college student, I had interacted with the other college students in the church but hadn’t branched out any further than that. I decided that during the meal, I would get out of my comfort zone and sit with some of the older people in the church to get to know them. Ultimately, I did, and the rest is history! However, I had to decide to take that step before I could get connected. We all have a step to take, whether you are looking into the church for the first time or you’ve been going for your whole life.
At Park Hill, we want to help people take the next step in their walk with the Lord. One step that we desire for everyone who is considering joining Park Hill to take is being a part of our First Steps Class. First Steps is a three-week course that will be held on October 6th, 13th, and 20th during our Sunday School hour from 9:15-10:20. Each week will be led by one of our pastors as we focus on our core beliefs, spiritual gifts, Life Groups, outreach, and how to get more plugged into Park Hill.
Who is this class for?
Any adult who wants to learn more about who we are and what we do or is looking to join Park Hill and make it their home. Before we vote on anyone as members, we ask them to take our First Steps class so that we can make sure that everyone understands our vision, mission, and how to get involved in our many ministries.
What should I expect?
If you enter through our front entrance, there will be members of our Connection Team ready to get you where you need to go! Find somebody with a blue lanyard and let them know that you are looking for first steps and they will help you out. There will also be signs directing the way. Feel free to grab some coffee or a doughnut on your way. Once you’ve made it to the class, there will be round tables set up with folders in place. Grab a seat anywhere and fill out the name tag so we can begin to get to know everyone. The class will consist of both teachings from our pastors as well as group discussions. Get comfortable and be yourself! This class benefits from discussion and questions.
What if I am unable to attend this time or am going to miss a week?
We offer this class every quarter so if you can’t attend this quarter, don’t worry! It will be offered again. While we do encourage that all three sessions of the class be taken in the same quarter, we understand that sometimes that isn’t possible. Since we do offer it every quarter, you can hop in and attend whatever session you missed next quarter.
